How Duo Camera works
- Turn on Duo. Tap the Duo button on the prompter, or switch it on in Settings › Duo Camera.
- Pick the big camera. Choose which camera fills the frame. The other sits as a rounded picture-in-picture.
- Place it. Drag the picture-in-picture to any corner and set its size from 20% to 60% of the frame, even mid-take.
- Record and read. Your script follows your voice right next to the lens. Tap Swap at any moment to flip which camera is big, with no gap.
Both feeds are combined on your iPhone as you record, so the take that lands in Photos is one finished video. Records at 1080p when the phone can, 720p when it needs to.
What people film with it
Product demos and unboxings
The back camera on the product, your face in the corner, the script on screen.
Recipes and how-tos
Hands and pan in the big frame, you explaining in the small one.
Real estate walkthroughs
The room fills the frame while you talk buyers through it.
Reactions and commentary
What you're looking at, and your reaction, in a single video.
Better on iPhone Duo
Half-folded on a desk, iPhone Duo keeps the script on the upright half right beside the front camera, and the camera tile, Duo and Swap buttons on the half lying flat. You can watch both feeds and swap them without touching the part that's filming. See the iPhone Duo teleprompter guide.
Add graphics on cue
Pro also includes on-screen graphics: a lower third, a logo, a promo-code card or a QR code. Put [show: Promo code] in your script and it appears the moment you say that line, burned into the take along with both cameras.
Duo Camera questions
Can an iPhone record the front and back cameras at the same time?
Yes. iPhone XS and later can run the front and back cameras together. DuoPrompt's Duo Camera uses that to record both into one video, with the second camera as a picture-in-picture, while the teleprompter follows your voice.
Is there a teleprompter app with dual camera recording?
DuoPrompt Pro's Duo Camera records the front and back cameras in one take with your script on screen. As of October 2026, none of the teleprompter apps we compared describe simultaneous front-and-back recording on their App Store pages.
Can I switch which camera is big during a take?
Yes. Tap Swap and the cameras trade places mid-take with no gap in the recording. You can also drag the picture-in-picture to any corner and resize it from 20% to 60% of the frame.
Does the script show up in the video?
No. The script stays on your screen. The recording has only the two camera feeds, plus any on-screen graphics you choose to show.
Which iPhones support Duo Camera?
Any iPhone XS or later running iOS 26, including iPhone Duo. If the phone is too busy to run both cameras at full quality, DuoPrompt drops from 1080p to 720p, and falls back to the front camera alone if it has to.
Is Duo Camera free?
Duo Camera is part of DuoPrompt Pro ($9.99/month, or the one-time $97 lifetime offer during setup). Free users see it with a PRO tag.
