Glass rigs
A teleprompter app for glass rigs.
DuoPrompt works as the screen in a beam-splitter teleprompter. Turn on Mirror text and the script flips to read correctly in the glass, the screen goes dark behind it, and the words still scroll with your voice. No remote, no operator.

Set it up in a minute
- Lay your iPhone in the rig, screen up, under the glass.
- In DuoPrompt, open the prompter's Settings panel and turn on Mirror text. It's also in the app's Settings as “Mirror text (glass rigs)”.
- Set the text size with the slider so it's readable from where you stand.
- Start talking. With voice-follow on, the script keeps your pace. Prefer a steady scroll? Switch to manual and set the speed.
Why voice-follow suits a rig
Glass rigs usually need someone running the scroll speed, or a remote in your hand. DuoPrompt listens instead: each line moves as you say it, pauses when you pause, and catches up when you ad-lib. You can keep both hands free.
No rig? Use the fold.
On iPhone Duo, half-fold the phone on a desk and the script sits right beside the front camera. For most talking-head videos that gets you the same eye contact as a glass rig with nothing to set up. See how to use iPhone Duo as a teleprompter.
Glass rig questions
How do I mirror text in a teleprompter app for a glass rig?
In DuoPrompt, turn on Mirror text in the prompter's Settings panel, or under Settings › Mirror text (glass rigs). The script flips horizontally so it reads the right way round in the beam-splitter glass.
Why does the screen go dark with mirror text on?
A beam-splitter glass reflects whatever is on the phone's screen. DuoPrompt skips the camera background when Mirror text is on, so the glass shows only bright text on black and the camera behind the glass sees through cleanly.
Does voice-follow work in a glass rig?
Yes. The iPhone's microphone still hears you, so the script scrolls as you speak and waits when you pause, even though the phone is lying under the glass.
Can I record with the iPhone that's in the rig?
Usually not: in a glass rig the phone faces up at the glass, and a separate camera films you through it. DuoPrompt's job there is to be the prompter. To film on the iPhone itself, use DuoPrompt without the rig, ideally half-folded on an iPhone Duo.
